About the position

The Office Clerk position at La Paz County in Parker, AZ, is a part-time role that provides essential support services for students, staff, faculty, and the public associated with Arizona Western College (AWC) and its various programs, including Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). The primary responsibilities include assisting students with admissions, registration, and financial aid processes, as well as proctoring tests and handling confidential student records. The Office Clerk will also support students in navigating learning management systems and other educational platforms, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and support services. In addition to student support, the Office Clerk will be responsible for providing general information about the college and specific departments to staff, students, and the public through various communication channels, including phone, online, and in-person interactions. The role also involves event support, where the clerk will direct patrons to event spaces, answer questions regarding equipment usage, and ensure that event locations are secured after use. Monitoring the fitness center is another key duty, which includes logging facility usage, maintaining equipment, and responding to emergencies as needed. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience in customer service or a related field. The ideal candidate should be computer literate, possess strong communication skills, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. The role may require evening and weekend hours, and the clerk must be flexible with their schedule. Additionally, the position requires CPR and First Aid certification, which can be obtained within the first month of employment, as well as TABE Proctor Certification. This role is classified as non-exempt and offers a flexible rotating schedule, working up to 19 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Serve students by assisting with AWC, ABE, ESOL/ELL/ELA admission, registration, proctoring tests, cashiering, and payments.
  • Assist in the enrollment process and financial aid, handling confidential materials related to student records.
  • Help students navigate the LMS and Office tools, and connect them to remote support services.
  • Process new and updated information in the designated computer database system.
  • Provide general college and departmental information to staff, students, and the public via phone, online, and in person.
  • Answer phones, take detailed messages, and transfer calls to appropriate departments.
  • Provide event support by directing patrons, answering questions, and ensuring event locations are secured after use.
  • Monitor the fitness center, log usage, ensure proper equipment care, and maintain patron records.
  • Inspect and sanitize equipment and facilities, request maintenance, and respond to emergencies.
  • Complete and submit injury/incident-related reports as necessary.
  • Ensure all areas are cleaned and secured at the end of the shift.
  • Participate in work-related training and support strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience working in customer service or directly with the public.
  • Computer literate and able to navigate online platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Arizona Western College.
  • Three years of experience in customer service or a related field.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • One year of data entry experience.
