About the position

The Procurement Coordinator at Long Island University plays a crucial role in supporting the procurement process by managing purchase orders, vendor communications, and training new users on the internal ERP system. This part-time position requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills to ensure efficient operations within the procurement department.

Responsibilities

  • Process purchase orders and place daily orders following operational guidelines.
  • Obtain order confirmations and inform end users of any backorder or discontinued item information.
  • Train new end users on the internal ERP system and educate them on policies and procedures.
  • Report on vendor performance based on inventory availability, lead times, and delivery times, documenting any concerns.
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable to update supplier information and manage PO change orders.
  • Support the activities of the Director of Procurement and contribute to departmental operations and training initiatives.
  • Execute purchasing responsibilities in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
  • Collaborate with the Director to establish and implement procedures for more efficient workflow.
  • Obtain quotes from vendors to identify the best suppliers and pricing.
  • Maintain a large supplier database.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience in procurement or a similar field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft or other related ERP systems is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Impeccable math, organizational, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
