About the position

Montgomery County Emergency Services, Inc. (MCES) is seeking a Part-Time Psychologist to provide assessment, diagnostic, and treatment services to psychiatric patients. The role involves working with individuals facing crises due to serious mental illness, with a focus on effective crisis intervention and psychiatric care. The position requires a Doctorate in Psychology and significant clinical experience in an acute psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, diagnostic, and diverse treatment and intervention services to psychiatric patients.
  • Conduct individual and family psychotherapy for patients.
  • Facilitate family therapy or family sessions as needed, including Family Education/Support groups.
  • Evaluate the need for and appropriateness of psychological testing for patients.
  • Conduct psychological testing to clarify diagnostic issues, treatment, or disposition planning.
  • Submit testing reports to the referring physician, NP, or Medical Director within seven days of testing.
  • Perform evaluations of personality and cognitive functioning.
  • Serve as a psychological consultant to the medical staff.

Requirements

  • Doctorate level (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology.
  • At least four years of clinical experience in an acute psychiatric setting.
  • Must be licensed to practice in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Completion of pre-doctoral internship at an APA accredited site.
  • Completion of post-doctoral residency toward fulfillment of state license requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to complete a high volume of documentation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
