About the position

The Resident Service Coordinator (RSC) serves as a service manager for residents, providing essential links to community agencies and negotiating affordable services. The role focuses on educating residents about available services, developing contacts for referrals, and monitoring the quality of delivered services. The RSC also offers informal counseling, plans educational programs, and coordinates volunteer opportunities, all aimed at empowering residents to age in place independently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general assistance related to supportive, social services and activities for safe independent living.
  • Refer residents to service providers and assist them in accessing community-based services.
  • Monitor the receipt and follow-through of services, encouraging resident engagement.
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date resource and service provider directory.
  • Report suspected abuse situations to the appropriate agency.
  • Facilitate educational and preventative health programs, screenings, and events.
  • Cultivate relationships with the Area Agency on Aging and other community resource providers.
  • Network with professional organizations and advocacy groups to share trends and best practices.
  • Assist residents in building informal support networks with family and friends.
  • Act as a liaison with management or community agencies, advocating on residents' behalf.
  • Help residents with forms related to utilities, medical services, and other bureaucratic issues.
  • Assist residents in obtaining assistive technology and mobility devices.
  • Conduct comprehensive, non-clinical assessments of resident wellness and social needs.
  • Document resident interactions and maintain individual resident files.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or appropriate work experience.
  • Two to three years of experience in social service delivery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supportive services and the aging process.
  • Ability to advocate, organize, problem-solve, and innovate.
  • Enjoy resident interactions and ability to prioritize multiple demands.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
