About the position

Under minimal supervision, provides instruction in Physical Therapist Assistant coursework, participates in student management, and functions as a member of the Allied Health Sciences faculty. Those who are doctorally prepared are eligible for tenure-track position. Job performance will be periodically evaluated by the Allied Health Sciences Department Chair and the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions in accordance with the provisions of the University's policies on evaluations of faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a learning environment that offers opportunities for active participation in the learning process by providing instruction in Physical Therapist Assistant and/or Health Science curriculum.
  • Plan, develop, conduct, coordinate, facilitate the clinical education portion of the PTA Program.
  • Maintain expertise in field of study and teaching pedagogy by attending seminars, workshops, and classes for self-improvement and/or professional enhancement.
  • Maintain active participation in professional organizations and/or service organizations as appropriate.
  • Participate in recruitment, advisement, and enrollment management for PTA students.
  • Serve on department and campus committees.
  • Provide syllabi and office hours to department coordinator at the beginning of every academic year.
  • Participate and march during graduation ceremonies.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the PTA Program Director and/or the AHS Department Chair.

Requirements

  • Applicant must hold an active, unrestricted license/certification as a Physical Therapist.
  • Minimum of three years post licensure clinical practice.
  • Two years of clinical practice experience must include experience as a Site Coordinator of Clinical Education or Clinical Instructor (CI) in physical therapy or a minimum of two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a physical therapy education program.
