About the position

Our Client is a Northern Nevada CPA firm serving clients for more than two decades and has an excellent opportunity for a CPA (or active Candidate) interested in future equity ownership of a CPA firm. They are looking for an experienced Tax and/or Audit Accountant to help lead and manage multiple operations of their practice area and to deliver quality services, that will be in line with the firm's reputation. You will help serve as a business advisor aiming at maximizing engagement and achieving qualitative outcomes and will be responsible for providing and managing the delivery of high-quality professional services to clients in the areas of tax preparation, tax planning, audit, accounting, and consultancy services. As a Public Accountant, you will perform diversified accounting, auditing, and tax assignments under the direction of a supervisor, manager, or partner. This includes the preparation of complex tax returns (individual, corporate, and partnership returns) and the ability to analyze tax issues and come to conclusions. You will prepare quarterly and year-end estimates to assist clients with tax planning and become proficient at tax research, including a knowledge of the reference sources available to the firm. Your role will also involve planning, executing, and reviewing all types of engagements such as compilations, reviews, audits, and agreed-upon procedures. You will directly interact with client owners and senior personnel, overseeing the efforts of multiple client engagements; planning, executing, directing, and completing external audits in a wide variety of industries; and managing to budget. Providing research and consulting services in response to audit and accounting issues will be part of your responsibilities. You are expected to demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards while meeting time constraints and client deadlines. Additionally, you will possess technical knowledge sufficient to assist staff associates and begin acquiring the skills necessary to develop quality client relationships and loyalty. Participation in firm training courses to further develop technical skills is encouraged, and you will provide excellent client service by producing quality work, quick turnaround, and attentive service. Researching and resolving tax and accounting issues affecting the firm will also be part of your duties.

Requirements

  • CPA certification required, or meets most requirements to sit for CPA exam; those possessing CPA certification will be given preference.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years' recent/current experience in public accounting.
  • Knowledge of tax software and MS Office.
  • In-depth tax knowledge at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize a heavy workload and remain organized.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
