A top firm in Charlotte, North Carolina, is seeking a Bookkeeping Manager to join their team. The Bookkeeping Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the bookkeeping staff and ensuring that the firm maintains high standards of service and quality. The Bookkeeping Manager will be responsible for evaluating the performance of supervised staff on an ongoing basis, as well as during annual performance evaluations. This includes reviewing projects and providing constructive feedback to cultivate a positive learning atmosphere, encouraging staff to take on new roles for personal and professional development. In addition to staff management, the Bookkeeping Manager will participate in firm billings and invoicing for supervised projects, develop budgets, and provide quotes to both new and existing clients for additional services. The role also involves providing insights and ideas to the firm's senior management during monthly partner/manager meetings, facilitating communication between the bookkeeping staff and the tax department to ensure efficient support for clients, and implementing policies set forth by the partners. Furthermore, the Bookkeeping Manager will manage and review the firm's payroll and 1099 processes, ensuring compliance with quality control standards while preparing financial statements for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate performance of supervised staff on an informal and annual basis.
  • Review projects and provide feedback to staff to foster a positive learning environment.

  • Develop budgets and provide quotes to new and existing clients for additional services.

  • Implement and monitor policies set by partners.
  • Manage and review payroll and 1099 processes, including preparation.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for clients.
  • Prepare and review engagement letters to maintain quality standards.
  • Participate in monthly manager meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in public accounting.
  • Minimum of four years using Quickbooks desktop and Quickbooks online.
  • Ability to utilize firm technology to enhance client service.
  • High stress tolerance and ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills.
  • Experience in external relationship management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities.
