About the position

The Public Affairs Liaison will support the Army at Ft. Detrick, MD, by developing and implementing communication strategies to effectively engage with target audiences. This role involves creating informational materials, managing public comments, and ensuring adherence to communication policies. The position is hybrid, requiring two days on-site and three days of telework each week.

Responsibilities

  • Develop communication plans emphasizing effective media for target audiences.
  • Identify, summarize, and analyze public comments submitted to the organization.
  • Prepare articles for publication and other informational materials.
  • Develop informational materials such as news releases and fact sheets.
  • Write articles and speeches for organizational officials to specialized publics.
  • Prepare and publish organization publications to keep internal personnel informed.
  • Write public involvement plans for informing the public on significant issues.
  • Arrange and conduct workshops, seminars, and meetings to stimulate participation.
  • Advise and assist the supervisor in tracking and addressing complaints and concerns.
  • Update the organization's website and other publications.
  • Develop communications strategies with short-term and long-term goals.
  • Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of communication plans and advise management accordingly.
  • Review public information materials for adherence to policies and regulations.
  • Initiate and prepare responses to inquiries from the public regarding policies and activities.
  • Prepare ad hoc programmatic presentation reports as required.
  • Take photographs or videos of events and maintain a database of images.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in Communications.
  • Experience working in DoD program offices, preferably with the Army.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Extensive experience with website concepts, content, publications, and press releases.
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance.
