About the position

The Public Affairs Manager at Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains will develop, implement, and manage a statewide outreach and advocacy plan to advance legislative and electoral campaigns. This role involves organizing public affairs events, collaborating with the Public Affairs team, and managing staff to create and execute activist outreach plans. The manager will focus on coalition-building and work towards positively impacting policy and public sentiment on reproductive health, rights, and justice issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a statewide outreach and advocacy plan.
  • Organize and coordinate strategic outreach and political efforts for legislative and electoral campaigns.
  • Plan and execute public affairs events including legislative conferences, lobby days, fundraisers, and candidate workshops.
  • Collaborate with the Public Affairs team to define targets and identify resources for promoting PPRM's public policy agenda.
  • Manage organizing staff to create and execute statewide campus and activist organizing plans.
  • Lead efforts that positively impact policy and public sentiment on reproductive health, rights, and justice issues.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Public Affairs budget.
  • Provide personnel management, development, and supervision for field staff.
  • Identify key legislative and electoral targets and develop grassroots activities to advance PPRM's objectives.
  • Coordinate with Media Relations staff to ensure consistent messaging and coverage of events.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in public affairs or advocacy work.
  • Excellent strategic, analytical, and persuasive communication skills.
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, and electoral processes.
  • Campaign organizing skills and experience managing data.
  • Understanding of intersectionality in organizing and a racial equity and inclusion lens.
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and showing progress towards goals.
  • Experience managing staff and/or volunteers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and video conferencing software like Zoom.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Experience in public speaking.
