About the position

Join our team as a Program Manager and support the United States Strategic Command Public Affairs Office (USSTRATCOM PAO) by developing public affairs (PA) plans and policies, executing strategic engagement efforts with local, regional, national and international media; establishing and developing the command's brand, and accomplishing internal information programs to ensure the workforce is informed of key command activities. Responsibilities

  • Provide analysis and assessment of public affairs activities and program impacts on the information environment
  • Integrate, coordinate, and facilitate assessment of the execution of PA strategies during peacetime, joint exercises and contingency operations
  • Assist in recommending methods and facilitate assessment of the effectiveness of execution of social media capabilities during exercises and operations
  • Support short-notice analysis of situations that can be addressed with PA processes and capabilities
  • Maintain an awareness of the information environment and potential impacts to strategic deterrence
  • Develop a digital media strategy in support of the command's communication strategies, the Campaign Plan, and the Commander's vision and intent
  • Fully integrate the command's digital media program into deliberate and contingency plans, recognizing that the task requires the synchronization and participation of key command communication stakeholders, including but not limited to: USSTRACOM Commander & Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff, Commander's Action Group (CAG), Deterrence Messaging Working Group

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Secret clearance
  • United States citizenship
  • Proficiency in all aspects of conducting Public Affairs, including a broad depth of understanding of news media activities, community outreach principles, public affairs planning, communication strategy development, and website and social media development and execution
  • Experience taking verbal concepts and rough plans to develop into actionable strategies for senior leaders
  • Formal training and/or education (Defense Information School or an industry certification) in Public Affairs concepts and techniques
  • Experience in developing near finished quality presentations or products from attendance at meetings or handwritten notes
  • Experience in digital media strategy and assessment, with the ability to independently research
  • Experience with reviewing and providing feedback on graphic arts
  • Experience with reviewing and providing feedback on video productions
