About the position

The Public and Media Relations Manager at Cortland is responsible for overseeing and executing communications strategies to enhance brand awareness and manage the company's reputation. This role involves developing proactive media relations strategies, managing crisis communications, and fostering relationships with media representatives and PR firms. The manager will also create content for various platforms and serve as the primary contact for media inquiries, ensuring effective communication both internally and externally.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a proactive media relations strategy to build brand awareness.
  • Cultivate and manage partnerships with PR firms and media representatives.
  • Manage the execution of all PR campaigns, including formulation, implementation, evaluation, budgets, and timelines.
  • Execute crisis communications effectively.
  • Develop content to promote brand awareness and partner with social media teams.
  • Monitor media for relevant news and leverage social currency.
  • Serve as the primary PR contact for the company, managing all media inquiries.
  • Provide consultancy and support to internal teams for effective PR initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of PR experience with a focus on content writing.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in PR and social media.
  • Exceptional time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
  • Superior writing and editing skills with the ability to generate media releases with minimal editing.
  • Expert knowledge of various social media platforms and media outlets.
  • Ability to monitor and report on the efficacy of campaigns.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and quality control.
  • Strong presentation skills and knowledge of video/photo production processes.
