About the position

The Public Assistance Investigator position within the Orange County District Attorney's Office is responsible for conducting investigations related to suspected fraudulent receipt or application for public assistance. Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations into suspected fraudulent receipt or application for public assistance.
  • Obtain and present facts and evidence to support administrative action or prosecution.
  • Collaborate with prosecutors, Social Services Agency staff, and law enforcement agencies to prosecute public assistance fraud.
  • Perform challenging investigative work that may lead to the prosecution of individuals suspected of fraud.
  • Work as part of a dynamic investigative team under direction.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of significant criminal investigative experience.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and rules of evidence.
  • Ability to apply ethical standards and exceptional judgment in decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and interviewing.

Nice-to-haves

  • California P.O.S.T Basic Certificate or equivalent certification.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish or Vietnamese.
