About the position

The Public Assistance/Workforce Case Manager at Union County Human Services is responsible for interviewing applicants for public assistance programs and assessing their eligibility for various services. This role involves conducting initial interviews, resolving barriers to employment, and assisting clients with applications for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work under the supervision of the Public Assistance/Workforce Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Interview public assistance applicants to determine eligibility for agency programs and services.
  • Conduct initial interviews and assessments for workforce development programs.
  • Resolve barriers to employment for clients.
  • Contact employers to solicit employment opportunities.
  • Assist clients with the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) application process.

Requirements

  • Preferred Associate degree or above in human services, behavioral or social science, education or related field.
  • Education or experience in interviewing techniques, business math, case preparation techniques, business writing, customer service techniques, and computer technology.
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) plus relevant work experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
