About the position

The Public Cloud Database PaaS Engineer will play a critical role in supporting our client in New York, NY, by leveraging their expertise in public cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure. This position is hybrid, allowing for a blend of remote and on-site work, and is expected to last for 12 months. The engineer will be responsible for managing and optimizing database PaaS solutions, ensuring high availability and performance of database services such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, No-SQL, and Redis. In addition to database management, the engineer will utilize DevOps tools like GitHub Actions and Terraform to automate deployment processes and enhance operational efficiency. A strong understanding of networking principles, as well as proficiency in both Linux and Windows operating systems, is essential for troubleshooting and resolving issues that may arise in the cloud environment. The engineer will also be tasked with implementing security best practices, including managing Active Directory and ensuring compliance with public cloud network security protocols. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct thorough root cause analysis and quickly adapt to complex existing applications and architectures. Familiarity with Agile methodologies will be beneficial in this fast-paced environment, where collaboration and iterative development are key to success.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize database PaaS solutions on Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure.
• Ensure high availability and performance of database services including Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, No-SQL, and Redis.
• Utilize DevOps tools such as GitHub Actions and Terraform for automation of deployment processes.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure public clouds.
• Extensive experience with database PaaS solutions such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, No-SQL, and Redis.
• Proficient in using DevOps tools like GitHub Actions and Terraform.
• Strong knowledge of networking principles and operating systems (Linux and Windows).
• Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to quickly learn and develop expertise in complex applications and architectures.
• Familiarity with security best practices and public cloud network security.
