About the position

The Public Events Manager at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry is responsible for leading the planning and execution of public events that enhance revenue, attendance, and brand engagement. This role involves overseeing all aspects of event management from ideation to post-event analysis, ensuring that events align with the museum's mission to inspire curiosity and engagement in science. The position requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed, and it offers a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop guest-centric thematic events utilizing programming, exhibit features, science connections, and music that drive revenue and increase audience base.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure seamless execution of events, including partner outreach and management, design and communications, operations and logistics, budget planning, and revenue strategy.
  • Coordinate with marketing and communications teams to develop timely marketing campaigns that align with business objectives.
  • Create compelling event content and messaging that resonates with target audiences and drives interest and attendance.
  • Manage event and campaign budgets and timelines, ensuring all deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Strategize revenue and spending to create new revenue-targeted activations.
  • Analyze event performance metrics, provide recommendations, and implement changes for future improvements and optimizations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including staff, volunteers, sponsors, partners, and vendors.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices and incorporate them into event marketing strategies.

Requirements

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of events and/or programming project management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • Proven and successful project manager in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under occasional pressure while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
  • Expert-level written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proactive, creative thinker with excellent organizational skills needed to stay on track and pursue solutions without constant supervision.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
  • Experience with Asana or similar project management software is a plus.
  • Experience managing budgets.
