About the position

ICF seeks a Public Health Analyst to support our Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) clients. This position is highly visible and dynamic, requiring an individual who can think strategically and execute tactically. The consultant will demonstrate a proven track record of statistical, analytical, and methodological support for public health surveillance and epidemiologic studies. The role involves delivering business requirements, data collection and analysis, and translating data into actionable insights. The candidate should be dedicated to excellence in customer service and have a proven track record of working with clients in a professional manner. Strong quantitative, analytical, communication, and writing skills are essential for success in this role. This is a teleworking position, allowing candidates to reside anywhere in the United States, provided they adhere to the clients' core business hours of operation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide statistical, methodological, and epidemiological support for CDC in syndromic surveillance, epidemiology, policy, preparedness, and emergency response.
  • Support the development of analysis plans for epidemiologic studies and conduct data analysis using national, regional, or site-specific data sets.
  • Conduct statistical analysis including descriptive, predictive, and regression modeling, with results used to develop scientific technical reports or manuscripts.
  • Contribute to publications and technical reports that include comprehensive literature reviews, methodology, and analysis plans focusing on key public health issues as determined by CDC.
  • Rapidly respond within 48- to 72-hours to CDC requests for data analyses.
  • Conduct research, comprehensive literature reviews, and data analysis to determine best practices for maintaining, updating, enhancing, or implementing syndromic methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health (Epidemiology/Biostatistics/Informatics) or closely related field.
  • 3+ years minimum professional experience performing statistical, analytical programming, and data visualization for disease surveillance systems.
  • 3+ years of experience utilizing R Programming, R Shiny, and Quarto.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Public Health or related field preferred.
  • Experience with syndromic surveillance.
  • Experience using ESSENCE (Electronic Surveillance System for the Early Notification of Community-based Epidemics) preferred.
  • Understanding of security protocols for accessing government systems.
  • Knowledge of research design, demonstration, and evaluation concepts and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in collection, organization, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of findings.
  • Experience querying large databases in analytical software such as R or Python.
  • Proficiency in R markdown reports and R Shiny dashboard development.
  • Knowledge of or some experience using electronic health records (EHR) such as ICD10, SNOMED, LOINC.
