About the position

As a Public Health Epidemiologist at the Kent County Health Department, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in a multidisciplinary team focused on improving public health outcomes. This position involves the development and maintenance of data dashboards that are essential for monitoring health trends and informing public health strategies. The candidate will be responsible for collecting, compiling, analyzing, and evaluating data to assess the health status of the general population as well as specific demographic groups. This includes explaining the etiology of diseases, predicting disease occurrences, and developing plans and strategies to control or contain the distribution of diseases. In addition to these primary responsibilities, the Public Health Epidemiologist will investigate reported cases, outbreaks, and epidemics of both communicable and chronic diseases. The role requires selecting appropriate methods of statistical and quantitative analysis to identify various factors linked to the incidence of these diseases. This includes demographic, geographic, and cultural variables that may influence disease transmission. The candidate will also be tasked with identifying sources of exposure and predicting the probability of future disease occurrences. Furthermore, the position involves analyzing data and developing comprehensive reports for the Kent County Health Department, which will be used to guide public health initiatives and interventions.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Epidemiology, Bio-medical Statistics, or a related field.
  • Four years of progressively responsible and demonstrably successful epidemiology experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Bio-medical Statistics, or a related field is strongly preferred.
