About the position

The Public Health Nurse I position at the California Correctional Health Care Services involves assisting in the planning, coordination, and evaluation of public health and infection control programs within a correctional facility. The role requires providing technical assistance to staff, conducting epidemiological investigations, and ensuring the delivery of appropriate health care to patients. This position is under the supervision of a Supervising Registered Nurse and focuses on promoting continuity of care and addressing the ongoing health care needs of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and evaluating institutional public health and infection control programs.
  • Provide technical assistance to institutional staff in implementing infectious disease control policies and procedures.
  • Conduct epidemiological investigations with guidance from the Public Health Branch.
  • Ensure the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients in collaboration with the health care team.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care.
  • Address ongoing health care needs of patients and promote efficient use of health care resources.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse in California.
  • Current certificate as a Public Health Nurse in California.
