About the position

The Public Health Nutrition Program Manager is responsible for administering nutrition programs, including the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, under the supervision of the Community Health Services Director. This role involves evaluating program needs, providing nutritional education, supervising staff, and managing grant applications to enhance public health nutrition services.

Responsibilities

• Administer nutrition programs including the WIC program.
• Evaluate nutrition/WIC program including WIC Certification System and outreach activities.
• Provide nutritional information through training and communication.
• Prepare proposals and grant applications for public and private funding.
• Supervise dietitians and breastfeeding peer helpers, including hiring and performance evaluations.
• Utilize quality improvement and performance management processes to enhance program effectiveness.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including accreditation requirements and emergency response.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field required; Master's Degree preferred.
• Two years of experience in nutritional education and counseling required.
• One year of supervisory experience required, or a Master's Degree with one year of experience may substitute for supervisory experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
• Ohio licensed/registered dietitian certification required.
• Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) training required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• National Incident Management Systems (NIMS)/Incident Command System (ICS) certifications required within six months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Healthcare Management preferred.
