About the position

As a Public Health Project Coordinator with Ampact, you will play a vital role in addressing urgent public health needs while launching your career in the field. The position is designed to support the health and wellness of communities in Minnesota, particularly through the Public Health Corps initiative, which collaborates with the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. This role offers you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public health, receive career coaching, and work alongside public health experts. Your contributions will be essential in helping the public health system deliver critical services to the community. In this position, you will engage in various activities aimed at increasing public health capacity and ensuring that health systems are responsive to community needs. Your responsibilities will include facilitating research, collecting data, and administering surveys. You will also engage community members in focus groups and public health discussions, advancing health and racial equity initiatives, and supporting public health education campaigns. Additionally, you will participate in ongoing training and professional development, gaining valuable experience while embedded in a governmental public health agency. As a Public Health Corps ambassador, you will have the chance to share your experiences with the wider community, further promoting public health initiatives. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in public health and are looking to develop their skills in a supportive environment. The program is actively seeking members for the 2024-25 program year, and you will have the chance to put your passion into action as a Project Coordinator, making a significant impact in your community.

Responsibilities

  • Help facilitate research, data collection, and survey administration.
  • Engage community members in focus groups and public health conversations.
  • Advance health and racial equity initiatives.
  • Support public health education campaigns.

  • Gain hands-on experience in public health while embedded in a governmental public health agency.

Requirements

  • Dependable with a history of good attendance.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively.
  • Ability to set a pace and maintain a service schedule based on agreed hours commitment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), internet searches, data entry, email communication (with attachments), databases and software use, and videoconferencing.
  • Fluent in English.
  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
  • Able to successfully complete a background check.
