In this role, the coordinator will design and implement public health campaigns that address pressing community health issues and promote various health programs. Responsibilities include creating engaging content for multiple platforms, such as social media, websites, and print media, while maintaining and updating the organization's online presence. The coordinator will also develop marketing strategies that align with public health goals, create marketing materials like brochures and flyers, and monitor the effectiveness of these campaigns. Collaboration is key, as the coordinator will work closely with internal staff, other city departments, community organizations, and healthcare providers to enhance public health marketing efforts. Additionally, the coordinator will manage relationships with media outlets, handle press releases, and participate in public relations activities, including media interviews. Ensuring that all content is accurate, culturally appropriate, and aligned with public health messaging is crucial. The role also involves supervising assigned program staff, evaluating their performance, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA requirements. The coordinator will participate in public health preparedness responses and act as the department historian, archiving events and activities. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement public health campaigns that address community health and promote health programs.
  • Create engaging and informative content for various platforms, including social media, websites, and print media.
  • Maintain and update content on the organization's website and social media channels.
  • Develop marketing strategies and objectives aligned with public health goals and priorities.
  • Develop marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and advertisements to support public health initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and outreach events and work with program manager to adjust strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal staff, other city departments, community organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to enhance public health marketing and outreach efforts.
  • Manage relationships with media outlets and handle press releases and public relations activities including media interviews with little or no notice.
  • Ensure all content is accurate, culturally appropriate, and aligned with public health messaging.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas and feedback to improve program outcomes.
  • Attend professional meetings and outreach events offering public health education and promotion.
  • Provide a high-level of customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Supervise assigned program staff, evaluate staff job performance and complete performance appraisals on assigned staff.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
  • Account for the City property assigned to the section and participate in annual inventories.
  • Participate in public health preparedness responses including but not limited to documentation of activities performed during the response.
  • Act as department historian responsible for archiving events, activities, response efforts, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least six months of supervisory experience required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation with proof of current vehicle insurance required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office for data entry, word processing, and accounting purposes.
  • Ability to operate small office equipment, including a multi-function copy machine, fax machine, and multi-line telephone systems.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
  • Ability to perform public speaking engagements.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy Act.
  • Ability to travel out of town for trainings and seminars.
  • Ability to work an after-hours schedule as required.
  • Ability to drive to off-site locations for meetings and events within Potter and Randall counties.
  • Ability to quickly change focus and priorities to address competing priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to use excellent judgment, make decisions, and communicate in a way that advances the best interest of Amarillo Public Health.
