About the position

This position leads and oversees violence prevention projects and initiatives aimed at creating and maintaining safe, healthy, and thriving communities. The role involves managing contracts, planning, implementing, and facilitating designated violence prevention initiatives, as well as collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure effective execution and monitoring of these initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage contracts including development, negotiation, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate violence prevention initiatives.
  • Support monitoring and grant reporting for various grants.
  • Research best practices and innovative approaches to violence-related health issues.
  • Identify external funding opportunities and prepare proposals for grants.
  • Present at internal and community meetings on violence prevention initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community-based partners.
  • Serve on cross-jurisdictional committees and community groups.
  • Facilitate meeting planning for various community efforts.
  • Support the city's emergency preparedness responses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Public Health, Human Services, Social Services, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Youth Studies, Youth Development, Sociology, Community Health, or a related field.
  • Two years of related experience.
