About the position

The Public Relations Account Executive - Event Planner role at Jackson Spalding involves managing and executing marketing, event, and communications projects. Responsibilities

  • Serve as an event planner and primary point of contact for local community events, including planning virtually and executing on-site events.
  • Understand local marketing and PR strategies and apply those strategies effectively.
  • Translate media materials and communicate with Spanish-speaking audiences as needed.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with multiple teams and partners to plan and execute events.
  • Participate in client projects and be responsible for their outcomes.
  • Influence and participate in decision-making for client-facing projects.
  • Delegate tasks and use inclusive language and behaviors.
  • Project manage independently and manage project team members and external clients on their deliverables.
  • Lead team members and clients effectively.
  • Coordinate ordering and organization of items and vendors for events.
  • Resolve issues for unique on-ground problems or situations during events.
  • Prepare decks and other communications materials for clients and events.
  • Consult clients around key strategies and long-term marketing and PR efforts.
  • Coordinate budgets and invoices for on-ground activations.
  • Manage client interaction and management across accounts, serving as the day-to-day client contact on certain accounts and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5+ years of communications or public relations experience, with 1-2 years in an agency environment.
  • Leadership skills with experience in managing teams via influence and sound judgment.
  • Strong decision-making skills, including critical thinking and analyzing situations for short- and long-term impact.
  • Project management skills, including time management, prioritization, and familiarity with PM tools, preferably Asana.
  • Effective communication skills across internal and external teams using multiple channels.
  • Strong knowledge of target audiences, such as reporters and influencers, with established working relationships.
  • Understanding of long-term communications strategy and messaging needs.
  • Experience managing minor crises effectively with a team.
  • Demonstrated success in securing media coverage and a passion for media relations.
  • Relevant knowledge of local media, national news, and industry trends.
  • Experience with PR and marketing concepts and practices, including local politics and business.
  • Ability to identify potential opportunities for clients.
  • Copywriting skills for member newsletters.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and current methods.
  • Outstanding communication and writing skills, with knowledge of AP Style.
  • Proficiency in utilizing social media for storytelling and monitoring feeds.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong proofreading skills, and ability to multitask.
