Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with the media, acting as the city's spokesperson/Public Information Officer.
• Write, edit, and distribute press releases, newsletters, and other communication materials.
• Oversee and manage the city's official social media profiles, developing content strategies and engaging with the public.
• Develop and implement communication strategies during emergencies, ensuring accurate messaging.
• Organize and participate in community events and public meetings to foster community relations.
• Facilitate effective internal communication within the organization regarding project updates and employee initiatives.
• Assist in developing and implementing strategic communication plans to support the city's goals.
• Support the creation and implementation of marketing strategies to showcase the City of Bel Aire.
• Oversee the City of Bel Aire's official website, ensuring it serves as an effective digital gateway.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in a communications role, preferably in a government or public sector setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing social media platforms and digital content.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage crisis communication situations.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
