About the position

The Public Relations/Communications Co-Op position at Nexteer Automotive is designed for students seeking to gain practical experience in a corporate environment. Located in Saginaw, MI, this co-op role supports various functions within the HR, Government, Grants, and Community Programs divisions. The primary objective of this program is to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, allowing students to engage with the company's products, processes, and procedures. As a co-op student, you will work closely with the Nexteer team to coordinate a variety of internal and external events. This includes reporting and tracking grants, training attendance, training certificates, federal grants, invoices, and remittances. Proficiency in Excel is essential for managing these reporting tasks effectively. Additionally, you will interact with members of the public and internal team members, providing support and assistance as needed. This role is ideal for students who are eager to learn and contribute to a dynamic team environment while developing their professional skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support HR, Government, Grants, and Community Programs initiatives.
  • Coordinate various internal and external events with the Nexteer team.
  • Report and track grants, training attendance, training certificates, federal grants, invoices, and remittances.
  • Utilize Excel for reporting and data management tasks.
  • Interact with members of the public and internal team members.
  • Provide additional support and assistance as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw.
  • Must be pursuing a degree in Business or a related field.
  • Ability to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters, and up to 40 hours in the summer.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Products (Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects effectively.
  • Skills to work independently or within a team and willingness to support others.
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter.
  • Must have the right to work in the US without requiring current or future sponsorship.
