About the position

The Public Relations & Communications Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing the organization's public image and managing communications both internally and externally. This position is responsible for leading public relations programs and serving as the primary point of contact for all public relations communications. The manager will develop and implement processes to evaluate and improve public relations communications, ensuring that the organization’s messaging is clear, consistent, and effective. This includes coordinating day-to-day requests for public relations communications, recommending appropriate subject matter experts, and preparing them for interviews. In addition to public relations duties, the manager will develop and implement publicity strategies for the company's products and services, including a crisis management strategy. They will create and manage a comprehensive PR plan that includes budgets and timelines, and work closely with the social media team to create a content calendar that aligns with the organization’s goals. Representing the organization at press conferences and interviews is a key responsibility, as is handling media commitments and disseminating information across various platforms. The manager will also coordinate with the marketing team to enhance the company's brand image and develop strategies that increase revenues and client engagement. On the communication side, the manager will develop and implement marketing communications strategies and programs, including advertising, branding, product promotion, and regulatory matters. This includes planning, preparing, and distributing original promotional content such as articles, news releases, emails, blog posts, and social media updates. The manager will oversee the production of a wide array of digital and print promotional materials, ensuring that all communications present a unified and positive image of the organization. They will also support internal corporate communications and explore new channels and methods to optimize marketing communications. The role requires maintaining excellent communication with all directors and supervisors, implementing departmental policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all internal control standards. The manager will also be responsible for maintaining a positive work environment, coordinating training and development for subordinates, and making difficult decisions in a fair and honest manner. Overall, this position is vital for promoting the organization’s mission and values while ensuring effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead public relations programs and serve as the main point of contact for public relations communications.
  • Develop and implement processes to evaluate and improve public relations communications.
  • Coordinate day-to-day requests for public relations communications, recommending appropriate subject matter experts and preparing them for interviews.

  • Arrange for photography and/or press coverage for special events.
  • Identify cost-reduction techniques and business opportunities by conducting data and statistical analysis from market trends.
  • Manage external communication channels, including press releases, media relations, industry publications, and thought leadership articles.
  • Develop and implement marketing communications strategy and programs, including advertising, branding, product promotion, and regulatory matters.
  • Plan, prepare, and distribute original promotional content such as articles, news and press releases, emails, blog and social media posts, and other updates.
  • Oversee and produce a broad array of digital and/or print promotional and communication materials for the organization.
  • Ensure all materials present a clear, unified, and positive image for the organization and/or brand.
  • Support internal corporate communications as needed.
  • Explore and adopt new channels, methods, and platforms to optimize marketing communications.
  • Monitor information systems and guide the team for maximum productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain excellent communications with all Directors and Supervisors.
  • Implement approved departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the budget for the department is monitored and adhered to by implementing effective processes and procedures.
  • Prepare necessary data for the budget in area of responsibility.
  • Keep abreast of competitive changes including industry trends and local competitive set.
  • Develop, maintain and nurture a positive work environment.
  • Responsible for maintaining a disciplined environment and implement practices that promote safety, quality and productivity.
  • Help coordinate and supervise training, assignments and development of subordinates.
  • Ensure compliance with all Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) as well as all Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS).
  • Present a positive image of the Tribal organization to its guests and vendors and assist them as required.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures and attend all scheduled safety meetings and training as a condition of employment.
  • Make difficult decisions in a fair and honest manner.

Requirements

  • High School Degree (or GED)
  • Five (5) years (or equivalent) Supervisory/Management experience.
  • Must pass periodic random drug screens.
  • Must be able to pass background suitability investigation.
  • Must obtain a Tribal Gaming License.
  • Must obtain all other applicable certifications and licenses.
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States within 72 hours of employment.
