About the position

The Public Relations Manager/Public Information Officer will play a crucial role in the administration of a public outreach program aimed at regulating Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) operating in New York. This position is under the supervision of an Assistant Counsel and involves a variety of responsibilities that are essential for effective communication and public engagement. The officer will serve as the primary contact for the Health and Pharmacy Benefits Bureau, leading public outreach efforts to ensure that the bureau's initiatives are well communicated to the public and stakeholders. In this role, the officer will monitor press coverage for issues pertinent to the bureau's work, providing written briefings to bureau leadership on significant trends and developments. This includes reviewing public comments and collaborating with bureau leadership to identify common concerns, which will help evaluate the impact of rule-making activities. The officer will also assist the complaints team in reviewing and responding to public complaints, fostering cooperative relationships with consumers, pharmacies, and PBMs to enhance the bureau's outreach and responsiveness. Additionally, the officer will coordinate with the website team to develop guidance for the public and PBMs regarding the complaint process, ensuring that information is accessible and clear. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, making this a dynamic role that requires adaptability and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as point person for the Health and Pharmacy Benefits Bureau in public outreach efforts.
  • Monitor press for issues relevant to the bureau's work and provide written briefings to bureau leadership on major trends.
  • Review comments from members of the public and collaborate with bureau leadership to identify common concerns and evaluate impact on and of rule making activities.
  • Assist complaints team with reviewing and responding to complaints from members of the public, establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with consumers, pharmacies, and PBMs.
  • Coordinate with website team on the development of guidance for members of the public and PBMs about the complaint process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working in Government.
