About the position

The Public Relations Manager for Sports and Entertainment at Ally Financial is responsible for developing and executing external communications strategies that enhance the company's visibility and reputation within the sports and entertainment sectors. This role involves managing media relations, creating communication materials, and collaborating with various teams to support Ally's sponsorship initiatives. The position requires a proactive approach to media engagement and a strong understanding of the sports and entertainment landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement proactive external communications strategies that support Ally's sponsorship portfolio.
  • Create strategic and tactical communications, including plans, press releases, media materials, media pitches, and messaging.
  • Build and cultivate strong relationships with client groups and key subject matter experts.
  • Sustain productive relationships with key sports business, consumer, and trade publications.
  • Manage external events and ensure high standards in content, environment, and logistics.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team, business partners, and agencies to enhance initiatives.
  • Analyze results of key initiatives and propose recommendations to achieve goals.
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the Marketing and PR function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Public Relations required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the sports, entertainment, and lifestyle media landscape required.
  • Sound judgement and extensive media relations experience required.
  • Crisis communication experience.
  • Experience using PR tools and services, such as Cision, MuckRack, and Meltwater.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of sports industry trends.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Social media knowledge.
  • Strong work ethic and desire for continual learning.
