About the position

Ally Financial is looking for a passionate public relations professional to join its external communications team at the manager level. This role focuses on developing and executing external communications strategies that enhance Ally's brand presence, particularly in the sports and entertainment sectors. The successful candidate will leverage media relationships to increase Ally's visibility and support its sponsorship initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement proactive external communications strategies that support Ally's sponsorship portfolio.
• Create strategic communications including plans, press releases, media materials, and messaging for key business initiatives.
• Build and cultivate relationships with client groups and subject matter experts to enhance communication effectiveness.
• Sustain productive relationships with key sports, consumer, and trade publications to respond to press inquiries.
• Manage external events ensuring high standards in content, environment, and logistics.
• Collaborate with the marketing team and business partners to enhance initiatives.
• Analyze results of key initiatives and propose recommendations for improvement.
• Contribute to the effectiveness of the Marketing and PR function by participating in departmental deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in Public Relations required.
• In-depth knowledge of the sports, entertainment, and lifestyle media landscape required.
• Extensive media relations experience and sound judgement required.
• Crisis communication experience is necessary.
• Experience with PR tools such as Cision, MuckRack, and Meltwater.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Keen attention to detail and knowledge of sports industry trends.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledgeable in social media.
