About the position

The Public Relations Manager (PRM) for the US West region at Stantec is responsible for managing media relations, social media strategy, content marketing, and reputation management. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong PR skills to counsel leadership, develop creative outreach strategies, and respond to shifting priorities. The PRM will work closely with marketing teams and regional leaders to enhance the company's visibility and reputation through effective storytelling and media engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Foster and grow relationships with media at regional and national levels.
  • Devise and execute creative outreach strategies connecting projects with broader trends.
  • Cultivate strategic experiences for thought leaders to engage with media.
  • Lead local brand activation and manage company reputation and crisis response.
  • Counsel senior leadership on business priorities and align PR strategies with key goals.
  • Mentor Public Relations Specialists and interns, providing professional development opportunities.
  • Champion Stantec's brand through strong storytelling and writing skills.
  • Advise on social media strategy and contribute to corporate channel content.
  • Collaborate with marketing and business leaders on public relations and marketing plans.
  • Provide data-driven counsel and track campaign metrics for evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, English, journalism, or marketing.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of public relations experience in corporate or agency settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in professional writing, campaign planning, and media relations.
  • Ability to craft and pitch stories and manage crisis communications.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Strong interviewing, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and work autonomously.
