About the position

The Public Relations Manager (PRM) for the US West region at Stantec is responsible for managing media relations, social media strategy, content marketing, and reputation management. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong PR skills to support leadership and drive the company's public relations efforts. The PRM will work closely with various teams to craft compelling narratives that highlight Stantec's projects and initiatives, while also mentoring junior staff and ensuring alignment with corporate goals.

Responsibilities

  • Foster and grow relationships with media at regional and national levels.
  • Devise and execute creative outreach strategies connecting projects with broader trends.
  • Cultivate strategic experiences for thought leaders to engage with media.
  • Lead local brand activation and manage company reputation and crisis response.
  • Provide counsel to leadership on business priorities and public relations strategies.
  • Mentor Public Relations Specialists and interns, providing professional development opportunities.
  • Champion Stantec's brand through strong storytelling and content creation.
  • Advise on social media strategy and contribute to corporate channel content.
  • Collaborate with marketing and business leaders on public relations and marketing plans.
  • Track campaign metrics and adjust strategies based on data-driven insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, English, journalism, or marketing.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of public relations experience in corporate or agency settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in professional writing and campaign planning.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with media personnel.
  • Experience in crafting and pitching stories and strategic media placements.
  • Knowledge of social media strategy and crisis communications.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interviewing, written, and verbal communication skills.
