About the position

The Public Relations Manager at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is responsible for creating, developing, and overseeing the implementation of the university's public relations strategy. This role involves coordinating community relations campaigns and consulting with senior leadership on crisis communications to support the institution's strategic communication goals. The position requires collaboration with the Director of Strategic Communications and campus leaders to enhance the university's brand and communication efforts.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement public relations strategies for the university.
• Coordinate community relations campaigns.
• Consult with senior leadership on crisis communications.
• Work closely with the Director of Strategic Communications and campus leaders.
• Foster enrollment and retention through effective communication.
• Support University Advancement and help campus units tell their stories.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or a similar field.
• Progressively responsible experience as a reporter or editor with a news organization or equivalent experience at a public relations firm or in-house public affairs department.
• Experience working in multi-format (text, photo, video) team environments.
