About the position

The Public Relations Manager is responsible for overseeing public relations, marketing, and educational initiatives for a designated department within the Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners. This role involves developing and implementing communication strategies, managing media relations, and coordinating outreach programs to enhance community engagement and promote departmental activities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as spokesperson for the assigned department and respond to media inquiries.
  • Manage relationships with media contacts and develop public relations opportunities.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases and maintain web and social media accounts.
  • Coordinate public outreach programs and make presentations to community groups.
  • Assist with department activities, including budget preparation and economic impact analysis.
  • Design and evaluate marketing and community relations plans in collaboration with division managers.
  • Conduct market research to assess audiences and identify new marketing opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in public relations, marketing, or communications.
  • Valid driver's license.
