About the position

The Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator is a temporary role within the External Affairs Department of EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency. This position focuses on creating and executing external communications to enhance public awareness of the agency's mission and activities, thereby supporting fundraising efforts and raising the organization's profile. The role involves managing social media, newsletters, press releases, and other communication materials, while ensuring consistency in messaging and brand voice.

Responsibilities

  • Create and distribute accurate and compelling communications to tell the EAC Network story.
  • Build public awareness around the agency's mission, values, and activities to enhance fundraising efforts.
  • Write and create social media posts using Canva and other publishing platforms.
  • Write and create monthly newsletters publicizing agency programs and announcements.
  • Distribute newsletters and other mass email communications via Constant Contact.
  • Maintain contact lists, ensuring email addresses are up to date.
  • Write press releases, coordinate press events, and engage local/national media outlets.
  • Manage social media platforms, ensuring timely interactions and online engagement.
  • Create infographics that showcase and highlight the agency's programs and impact.
  • Work with the Chief External Affairs Officer and Program Directors on website content.
  • Coordinate with outside media vendors.
  • Take and catalog photos and videos recapping agency events.
  • Prepare communication materials including general correspondence and solicitation materials.
  • Hire and manage intern(s).

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in creating social media content and communication for a non-profit or business.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills, with thorough attention to detail.
  • Established media relationships, preferably based in New York City.
  • Ability to effectively tell the EAC Network story to community partners, prospective donors, and elected officials.
  • Experience assisting senior staff on messaging and content.
  • An acute understanding of brand management and public relations best practices.
  • Proficiency in Constant Contact, HubSpot, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge base in Facebook Ads Manager, Adobe InDesign, Affinity, and QuarkX.
  • Experience in creating marketing materials for external publication.
  • Ability to turn around images and marketing material on short notice.
  • Must possess a valid New York State driver's license and access to an automobile for local travel.
