About the position

The Program Manager, Public Relations at Nemours Children's Health is responsible for leading strategic communications efforts to enhance the organization's reputation across the Delaware Valley. This role involves crafting compelling narratives that resonate with various audiences, including the media, patients, and policymakers, while promoting the innovative healthcare services offered by Nemours. The position requires a proactive individual who can effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive thought leadership and secure media coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic communications across Delaware Valley targeting media, patients, policymakers, donors, and the general public.
  • Identify and package compelling stories that gain national and regional attention.
  • Drive thought leadership by supporting Nemours-owned content and securing third-party platform opportunities.
  • Create and drive key messages through traditional media relations and digital content creation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including researchers and clinicians.
  • Promote healthcare innovation and secure national media coverage.
  • Strengthen relationships with patient and community organizations to enhance visibility.
  • Place relevant experts at conferences and speaking opportunities.
  • Manage event planning and execution for PR initiatives.
  • Develop communications plans to mitigate issues impacting the organization's reputation.
  • Create digital communications products in collaboration with multimedia and social media teams.
  • Write various communications materials including press releases, blog posts, and award nominations.
  • Utilize media and social media tools for public relations efforts.
  • Travel locally and to Nemours sites in Florida as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field.
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in public relations or communications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare public relations.
  • Strong understanding of the scientific process and healthcare innovation.
  • Established relationships with national consumer health media.
