The Public Relations Project Lead at Texas Children's Hospital is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategic media relations and public relations programs for key service lines. This role involves acting as a representative for the hospital, building relationships with media, and securing placements to enhance the hospital's visibility on local, regional, and national fronts.

Responsibilities

• Acts as public relations representative for the overall hospital and/or service lines and programs.
• Represents the department with key organization and physician leadership, building relationships and seeking out media-worthy opportunities.
• Develops comprehensive plans to proactively drive strategic story opportunities across appropriate media outlets.
• Secures local, regional, and national media placements for the Texas Children's brand, especially for key service lines and initiatives.
• Writes media materials and news releases, coordinates media visits, and tracks media coverage.
• Media trains key hospital spokespeople for interactions with media contacts.
• Partners with marketing colleagues to develop PR plan components for integrated programs.
• Explores opportunities beyond traditional media, including digital platforms and live media events.
• Collaborates with other PR colleagues to minimize resource overlap and maximize promotional opportunities.
• Works effectively with outside agencies, providing clear direction and objectives.
• Oversees the PR internship program and manages intern projects.
• Conducts media targeting and relationship building.
• Prepares crisis and on-call communications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• At least 5 years' experience in the public relations field, including national PR experience with a top-tier entity/client.
