About the position

The Integrated Marketing Communications Specialist at Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering is a pivotal role responsible for the strategic management and enhancement of the school's social media presence and the creation of high-quality digital marketing content for the Institute for Enterprise Engineering (IEnE). This position requires a proactive and creative individual who is eager to take initiative and develop strategies that will improve the visibility of Duke Engineering and IEnE. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Executive Director of Communications & Marketing, Assistant Directors, and the Associate Dean of Master's Programs, to identify objectives, strategies, key messages, and tactics that align with the school's goals. In this role, the specialist will engage in content creation and multimedia production, consulting frequently with stakeholders to identify opportunities for high-quality written and multimedia content that highlights the unique features of Duke Engineering's master's student experience. This includes producing feature articles, profiles of students, alumni, and faculty, as well as social media posts and campaigns. The specialist will also be responsible for managing and curating website content, ensuring that all marketing materials are accurate, current, and effectively meet program goals. Additionally, the specialist will refine and execute the social media strategy for the Pratt School of Engineering, adhering to Duke and Pratt's editorial guidelines and brand standards. An annual editorial calendar will be developed in collaboration with the communications and marketing team to align content deployment with broader strategic objectives, such as new student recruitment and fundraising initiatives. The role also includes performing other related duties as necessary, contributing to the overall mission of the Pratt School of Engineering to prepare future engineering leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders in each IEnE Professional Master's degree program to ensure alignment and informed communication strategies.
  • Produce high-quality written and multimedia content focused on the unique features of Duke Engineering's master's student experience.
  • Regularly survey and maintain the accuracy and quality of marketing content on the website(s) supporting Duke Engineering's IEnE Professional Master's Programs.
  • Work with the Executive Director of Communications & Marketing to refine and execute the social media strategy for the Pratt School of Engineering's social channels.
  • Develop an annual editorial calendar that aligns content deployment with broader strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications, media, marketing, English, or a related field.
  • Two years of directly related experience in journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills for digital and print media.
  • Proficiency in AP Style and experience with content management systems (Drupal or WordPress preferred).
  • Ability to produce and edit high-quality multimedia content.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in marketing or communications in consumer product, health care, engineering, or academic environments.
  • Knowledge of the U.S. graduate student application, admission and matriculation process.
