About the position

The Public Relations Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing brand awareness for NYCM through various strategies, including managing social media channels, maintaining the NYCM Blog, and building the company's reputation in the media. This position involves developing public relations strategies that align with company objectives and influence public opinion regarding NYCM's products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the organization to develop content for social media, website, intranet, and customer communication to enhance the NYCM brand.
  • Assist the Public Relations Supervisor in creating strategies that influence public opinion and promote NYCM products and services.
  • Contribute to the NYCM Blog by writing and publishing articles, utilizing SEO, and tracking analytics.
  • Write and distribute press materials, including press releases and media communications, in collaboration with Brand Management and other divisions.
  • Provide written drafts and key talking points for management.
  • Craft a consistent organizational voice and tone to meet marketing and branding objectives.
  • Coordinate content creation, scheduling, and monitoring of social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.
  • Identify collaboration opportunities with third-party vendors for branding and public relations needs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with consumers, community, employees, and media.
  • Act as a back-up to the Event Coordinator for overseeing external events when multiple events occur simultaneously.
  • Maintain a targeted media list.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and four years' experience in communications, public relations, or a closely related field OR a Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior work experience or knowledge of the insurance industry is a plus.
  • Ability to have basic insurance-related conversations with customers and potential customers in the field.
