About the position

The Public Relations Specialist I (Marketing & Promotions Coordinator) at Tennessee Tech University is responsible for assisting the Director for Video and Marketing in daily operations. The role focuses on increasing sponsorship revenue and season ticket sales while enhancing the public perception of athletics through social media, promotions, special events, and community outreach.

Responsibilities

• Create marketing and promotions initiatives for intercollegiate athletics, including special events and community outreach.
• Coordinate the planning and distribution of marketing and promotional materials.
• Assist in developing comprehensive season ticket plans for football and basketball, including social media and community event involvement.
• Assist with floor/field activity for men's and women's basketball and football events, including promotions and sponsorship presentations.
• Serve as a sales contact for corporate sponsorships.
• Comply with NCAA, OVC, and TTU guidelines, rules, and regulations.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with University personnel and corporate/community sponsors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in business or a related field.
• One year of experience, preferably in an athletic setting, beyond the degree requirement.
• Effective communication skills and networking and sales training.
• Time management skills and appropriate business etiquette.
• Organizational skills and ability to work extended hours, nights, and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

• Three years of experience in marketing, promotions, sales, or a related area.
• Graphic design experience.
• Supervisory experience.
• Experience working in a collegiate athletics program.
