About the position

The Public Relations Specialist I position at the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to promote the agency's mission and activities. This role involves creating content for various communication channels, managing social media campaigns, and serving as a liaison with the media. The position plays a crucial role in enhancing public awareness of Mississippi's agricultural products and initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement social media campaigns for the Mississippi Farmers Market and other agency areas.
• Create, manage, and update content on the Genuine MS website.
• Create and distribute weekly e-newsletters for the Mississippi Farmers Market and monthly e-newsletters for the agency.
• Assist with website updates related to the Market Development Division.
• Design marketing materials such as brochures, ads, and posters.
• Develop radio, print, and social media advertisements.
• Write and distribute press releases for the agency.
• Write articles for the Mississippi Market Bulletin.
• Assist with content development for the annual publication Mississippi Agriculture.
• Monitor, track, and analyze agency media communications.
• Develop the Annual Report for the agency.
• Promote the agency and its programs by attending and participating in various events.

Requirements
