About the position

The Public Relations Specialist II - Communications and Marketing position at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is responsible for managing both internal and external communications. This includes creating content for internal and public-facing websites, managing social media, and supporting media relations and events. The role involves determining relevant content topics, coordinating with various stakeholders to gather information, and producing press releases, announcements, and photographs as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Determine news-worthy stories and write them for internal and external purposes.
  • Develop website content and general maintenance/updates for webpages.
  • Create social media content and posts.
  • Develop, organize and execute public relations events.
  • Leverage analytics and reports to determine effectiveness and seek continual improvements of communication initiatives.
  • Write, edit and coordinate distribution of information to market, promote and increase the visibility of initiatives and accomplishments.
  • Facilitate and compile reports as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in successful development and execution of public relations and communications activities on behalf of an organization, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
