About the position

The Public Relations Specialist - Outreach Worker will serve as a representative of the NJ Department of Health, focusing on COVID vaccine outreach and broader health education initiatives. This role involves engaging with community members to provide health resources, reduce barriers to vaccination, and guide individuals to local health services. The position requires effective communication across diverse populations and a commitment to community health.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a representative of the NJ Department of Health for COVID vaccine outreach.
• Create awareness on health-related topics approved by NJDOH.
• Identify and help reduce cultural and structural barriers to vaccination.
• Engage community members during field assignments by sharing relevant resources.
• Communicate health resources to community members according to NJ Department of Health guidelines.
• Guide community members to local health services based on their county of residence.
• Ensure the use of up-to-date outreach materials during field assignments.
• Complete additional Community Health Worker training as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in community outreach, customer service, community engagement, social services, or health education.
• Effective communication skills across racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
• Valid driver's license in New Jersey if vehicle operation is necessary for the job.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and/or verbal).
• Experience in writing skills.
