About the position

The Public Relations Specialist will serve as a technical authority and subject matter expert in communications, coordinating closely with organizational experts to ensure accurate and timely communication materials. This role involves supporting executive engagements with both internal and external audiences, conducting strategic planning, and executing communication campaigns that align with organizational goals. The specialist will also manage public inquiries, media relations, and event coordination, ensuring effective communication strategies are developed and implemented.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical authority and subject matter expert for communications issues.
  • Coordinate with organizational subject-matter experts to ensure accurate communication materials.
  • Support executive engagements with internal and external audiences, including top-level Government officials.
  • Conduct strategic planning and communications with organizational leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Plan, direct, and execute strategic communication campaigns for the organization.
  • Design messages to connect with the desired audience and select appropriate communication channels.
  • Measure communication results and refine future strategies based on outcomes.
  • Develop and execute organizational and program-specific Strategic Communication Plans and brief them to senior leaders.
  • Manage public inquiries, media relations, and congressional inquiries.
  • Oversee web content management and event coordination.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Master's degree in Communications/Public Affairs or a related field plus a minimum of 6 years of applicable experience, or a bachelor's degree plus 8 years, or an associate's degree plus 10 years, or a high school diploma with 16 years of experience.
  • Seven cumulative years of applicable work experience in public communications/public affairs within the last 10 years.
  • Five years' experience supporting tracked/wheeled combat vehicle programs valued over $480 Million (ACAT I).
  • Five years' experience supporting a Major Army Weapon System valued over $185 Million (ACAT II) and Army Public Affairs procedures.
  • Five years' experience interfacing with higher-level DoD public affairs staff agencies.
  • Five years' experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
