About the position

The Public Relations Specialist at MT Youth Challenge Academy (MYCA) is responsible for recruiting, educating, and promoting the academy to prospective students, their families, and youth-related agencies across the state. This role involves assessing market needs, implementing outreach opportunities, collaborating with various organizations, and conducting interviews with potential candidates. The position requires a self-motivated individual who can effectively communicate the benefits and requirements of MYCA while managing a dynamic work environment that includes extensive travel.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and educate prospective students and their families about MYCA.
  • Assess market and recruitment needs for assigned areas.
  • Identify and implement outreach opportunities.
  • Collaborate with educational, civic, and youth organizations to promote MYCA.
  • Conduct interviews and preliminary evaluations with prospective youth and their families.
  • Perform various communication activities to increase awareness of MYCA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, communications, social science, human services, education, or a related field.
  • One year of progressively responsible related experience, preferably with at-risk youth.
  • Knowledge of marketing, sales, recruiting, public relations, youth counseling, and education.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with diverse audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with at-risk youth.
  • Previous work experience in sales.
