About the position

The Public Relations Specialist at Episcopal Retirement Services is responsible for developing and implementing public relations strategies that align with the organization's goals. This role involves managing the annual public relations calendar, writing and distributing press materials, fostering media relationships, and monitoring media coverage to enhance the organization's reputation. The position requires strong communication skills, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements public relations strategies that align with the department's campaign plans.
  • Creates and manages the company's annual public relations calendar, including awards submissions and media events.
  • Writes and distributes press releases, media advisories, and other PR materials to media outlets.
  • Plans, writes, executes, and distributes materials for internal and external digital and printed properties.
  • Plans and executes the submission process for annual awards, including writing nominations and conducting research.
  • Fosters relationships with media contacts to build and maintain a key media contact list.
  • Monitors media coverage and prepares regular reports on PR metrics.
  • Coordinates media events, interviews, and press releases with the VP of Marketing.
  • Responds to media inquiries and prepares schedules and talking points for leadership.
  • Utilizes AI tools to optimize the creation of PR communications and marketing materials.
  • Keeps up-to-date with industry publications and emerging technologies.
  • Conducts research on PR best practices and emerging trends.
  • Works as an integral team member in the coordination of special events.
  • Coordinates and assists with the production of ERS marketing projects.
  • Supports elements of crisis communication efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, mass communication, or journalism required.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in public relations, media relations, and/or corporate communications preferred.
  • Strong portfolio showing PR and corporate communications-related work and accomplishments.
  • Experience using media monitoring and PR tools, such as Cision or Meltwater, preferred.
  • Understanding of utilizing digital communications strategies for public relations preferred.
  • Proficiency using AI communications/marketing tools preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft o365 Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) required.
  • Ability to effectively plan, manage, execute and measure outcomes for multiple priorities.
  • Experience using Dropbox and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Expertise in writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of healthcare and familiarity of working with older adults preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
