About the position

The Public Relations Specialist will support the Communications Director at the Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners. This role involves a variety of tasks including drafting meeting notices, preparing agendas, and producing reports related to tourism development. The specialist will also engage in public information campaigns, manage social media content, and conduct research to inform public relations strategies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Communications Director with drafting meeting notices and preparing agendas.
• Attend all TDC and committee meetings, take notes, and assist with preparing minutes for approval.
• Produce reports on TDC activities and conduct tourism-based research.
• Draft press releases, reports, and social media content.
• Develop public information campaigns and strategies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Communications.
• Two years of experience in a similar role (local or state promotional organization, communications office, or advertising firm).
• Valid Florida's Driver's License.
• Strong writing skills with experience in proofreading and editing press materials.
