The Public Relations Specialist at Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) plays a crucial role in enhancing community engagement and communication regarding utility service programs. This position involves coordinating internal and external communications, promoting a positive public image, and supporting the Public Affairs & Sustainability Manager in various public relations initiatives. The specialist will be responsible for writing and editing news releases, creating marketing materials, and ensuring cohesive branding across all communications.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Public Affairs & Sustainability Manager in enhancing community engagement and communication.
• Coordinate internal and external communications focusing on utility-wide issues and community relations.
• Promote a positive employee and public image of FPUA.
• Write and edit news releases and create marketing materials for FPUA initiatives.
• Support the preparation of all FPUA publications and ensure cohesive branding.
• Manage media relations and prepare press releases and media information packets.
• Coordinate and edit information on FPUA's website and social media sites, ensuring content is accurate and timely.
• Respond to inquiries on FPUA social media channels and manage media requests.
• Assist with coordinating public information for disasters and emergencies with public safety staff.
• Facilitate FPUA contact with community organizations and keep them informed of services and activities.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
• Experience in project management and execution of public relations campaigns.
• Experience in copywriting and editing.
• Working knowledge of MS Office and photo/video editing software.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Exceptional presentation and public speaking skills.
