About the position

The Public Relations Specialist for Public Safety is responsible for executing specialized public relations duties that support the Public Safety Services programs and activities. This role involves strategic planning, media communications, and overseeing social media and design efforts, while also providing leadership to assigned personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the coordination of department social media, photography, videography, and design, including managing the Public Safety app.
  • Performs strategic Public Relations planning and outreach for Public Safety and is involved in interactions and communications with the media.
  • Provides and implements public relations strategies for the department and community organizations.
  • Performs various administrative and organizational functions.
  • Exercises direct supervision over assigned personnel assigned to Public Relations functions.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; three (3) to five (5) years' experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
