About the position

The Public Relations Specialist will be instrumental in developing and executing a comprehensive PR program for Gartner's IT practice in the Americas. This role aims to enhance brand awareness, promote thought leadership, and support the company's growth by effectively communicating Gartner's expertise to key audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Senior PR manager to contribute to the holistic PR program for Gartner's IT practice in the Americas.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with top-tier business and trade media in the technology space.
  • Proactively pitch research and thought leadership to media and respond to inbound requests.
  • Manage incoming media inquiries and determine the right Gartner analyst for topics to secure media coverage.
  • Create various written collateral, including media pitches, press releases, byline articles, and social media content.
  • Conduct rapid responses with the media during breaking technology news.
  • Provide support for media outreach related to Gartner Conferences, including developing PR plans and timelines.
  • Maintain and refine media lists to ensure they are current.
  • Develop and maintain IT analyst contact sheets and Market Data Books.
  • Share key media coverage with stakeholders via real-time emails.
  • Utilize Business Wire to distribute media advisories and press releases.
  • Understand social media best practices and participate in relevant conversations on Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Utilize monitoring tools to track press coverage and share of voice for Gartner and competitors.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years' experience in public relations, corporate communications, or marketing, preferably in a large organization or PR agency.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with collaboration technology tools (e.g., Google Drive, Google Docs).
  • Self-starter with independence and initiative in completing deliverables.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Exceptional collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and a sense of urgency when warranted.
  • Process-oriented with foundational knowledge of the IT space is a plus.
