The Public Safety Officer at Beth Israel Lahey Health plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the hospital environment. The officer is responsible for maintaining a safe atmosphere for patients, visitors, and staff while supporting the hospital's core values and mission.

Responsibilities

• Conducts proactive interior and exterior rounds to prevent, deter and identify potential criminal activity, safety concerns, and public safety hazards.
• Responds to public safety calls for service and triages and addresses emergency situations.
• Performs patient watches and monitoring, rounding, parking lot audits, and post assignments as directed by the Post Orders.
• Provides coverage at the Switchboard, Communication and Dispatch Center.
• Acts as a liaison between the hospital and local emergency services.
• Utilizes CCTV systems to identify, report, and address public safety concerns.
• De-escalates crisis situations through verbal techniques and applies physical restraint techniques when necessary.
• Contributes to a community and customer service-based safety program.
• Maintains a clean and organized post, equipment, and vehicle, conducting basic cleaning when necessary.
• Supports the hospital's core values and mission by providing exceptional customer-focused service.

Requirements

• Thorough working knowledge of the hospital environment.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related role required.
• Ability to utilize a telephone, computer, communications, and dispatch software.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous/current law enforcement and/or military experience preferred.
